Time to Spruce Up Your Lawn for Spring? Democrats Want to Ban Your Gas-Powered Tools
The snow is melting, the sun is shining, and chances are your yard is soon to be growing wild. As you head out to cut your grass or trim your brush, savor your gas-powered tools, because if Democrats get their way, the popular tools will be banned starting January 1, 2025.
The bill (HF 1715) is part of the Democrats’ plan to make Minnesota carbon-neutral by 2040, which, according to Center of the American Experiment, will cost the state $313 billion, cause deadly blackouts, and have little to no impact on the environment. Worth it? No, but Democrats don’t care. Despite the consequences for Minnesota families, they are dead set on their radical green energy agenda.
If the gas-powered tool ban passes, Minnesota will join California, which passed the nation’s first bill of its kind and is set to take effect in 2024. There are several drawbacks lawmakers must consider before this bill becomes law.
The cost of transitioning to electric-powered lawn equipment will be an added burden for many Minnesotans. Electric equipment tends to be more expensive than gas-powered counterparts. This will particularly impact low-income families, small businesses, and communities with limited resources as they struggle to afford the increased costs.
Electric-powered equipment is not as widely available or even suitable for all lawns and gardens. Rural areas with limited access to electricity for charging the tools will face difficulties with electric-powered equipment.
The ban will negatively impact lawn care and landscaping workers. The professionals mainly use gas-powered equipment because of its power and efficiency. A ban on such equipment will disrupt operations, causing job losses or increased costs for businesses.
A ban on gas-powered equipment in Minnesota would do a great service to sales in surrounding states like Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Iowa. Minnesotans who live closer to the border can easily drive across and buy their favorite gas-powered tools there!
The Democrats’ gas ban bill is just another example of their arbitrary rule-making with no acknowledgment of how the rest of us live.
