DFL Delivery Fee Bill is Dead - Good Riddance!
The sponsor of the bill to place a $0.75 fee on food deliveries such as DoorDash, Dominos, etc., admits that he does not have enough of his fellow Democrats’ votes in the Minnesota Senate to carry the bill across the finish line.
Good riddance we say! The new tax would come at a time of record inflation when families and businesses are already struggling to keep up. Not to mention the fact that Minnesota already has a $19 billion budget surplus. If lawmakers need more funding to grow the government, they ought to use the hard-earned dollars they’ve already taken from us. No more! Minnesotans need relief, not increased burdens.
Representative Hornstein (D - Minneapolis) argued in support of the tax increase, claiming that "people will be impacted, yes, but they're already spending a lot of money [on delivery fees]."
Wow! Democrats think that since Minnesota families are already spending a lot of money it’s okay for them to pay even MORE. This logic is completely flawed and out of touch. The cost of almost everything keeps increasing and the DFL’s priority is taking more of your hard-earned money to fund their ever-growing government machine. This is not what Minnesota families deserve.
Fortunately for us, some DFL members have come to their senses and decided not to support the delivery fee.
It’s a good thing the delivery fee bill is dead. It now rests in the graveyard of Democrats’ bad ideas from this year’s legislative session.
