MN DFL’s Radical, Runaway Spending Exceeds Expectations

Despite a record-setting $19 billion budget surplus, Minnesota Democrats raised taxes by almost $10 billion and grew the government bigger than ever before. Instead of keeping their campaign promises and focusing on kitchen table issues that Minnesotans care about the most – public safety, cutting costs, and finding real solutions to our state’s biggest issues – Democrats stopped at nothing to pass the most radical agenda this state has ever seen.

The DFL found every opportunity to raise taxes, even sneaking in a gas tax increase and new delivery fee during the last days of the session. And then there are the tax credits for things like e-bikes. If a $19 billion surplus is not enough for Democrats to cut taxes, what will be? It seems there is no end in sight to what they will take from Minnesota’s hardworking families.

“More spending using taxpayer dollars, a larger state government for the future and higher taxes for all,” said Allison Housley, spokesperson for the Minnesota Action Network. “Democrats should enjoy the praise they get from the radical socialists in their party while they can because everyday Minnesotans will never forget that the DFL voted to spend a $19 billion surplus while raising their taxes.”
