Democrats Sneak In Gas Tax Hike, Delivery Fee During Final Days of Session
In the final days of the session, state Democrats snuck even more tax hikes and fees into their transportation omnibus bill. As if their list of money-grabbing proposals was not long enough, a gas tax hike and new delivery fee slipped in at the last minute. It’s as if we never even had that $19 billion surplus.
The gas tax hike (which was passed with automatic hikes tied to inflation) will immediately hit every single Minnesotan, hitting the poorest the hardest. Gov. Walz acknowledged this fact, but ignorantly stated he thinks that Minnesotans will “understand.” Do you understand why Democrats need to keep taking more and more of your hard-earned money?
Earlier this session, a $0.75 delivery fee was on the table, but Democrats said they did not have enough votes to pass it. Clearly, it didn’t take much for opponents to change their minds as a new, $0.50 fee made it into the final bill. Or was this just another DFL bait-and-switch?
