Democrat Economic Policies Make No Sense
If you listen to Democrats, you’d think that when it comes to Minnesota’s economy, they’re the best thing since sliced bread. But if you live in Minnesota and pay attention, things are not adding up. In reality, the way the Democrats run the economy is convoluted, rushed, and filled with gaps that everyday people are always falling into.
Let’s start with the state’s budget surpluses. For this fiscal year, Minnesota had a $17.5 BILLION surplus. That means that the government had over $17 billion dollars that they didn’t actually need, but got through taxing the people anyway. The Democrats don’t seem the best with money, so maybe they didn’t realize that they were taxing people more than they should’ve, right? No, because they didn’t exactly learn their lesson, with our next fiscal year gearing up to have an estimated $2.4 BILLION budget surplus.
Minnesota’s economy isn’t doing the best. Houses are unaffordable, the median cost of rent has gone up by 20%, inflation has erased people’s savings, and between 2019 and the present, the poverty rate has increased by 9%. If there’s ever a time to cut the people some slack when it comes to taxes so they can save up, it’s now.
You’d think that would make them cut back on taxing people, right? Taxes are still going up, and with the Democrats being in charge of the House, Senate, and governor’s office, it’s very unlikely that it will stop anytime soon. The Democrats will keep taxing people more than they should.
Governor Tim Walz released tax rebate checks that were supposed to appease critics who were rightfully calling out the unnecessary budget surpluses, but those ended up failing too. 2.1 million checks went out in August and September, but 150,000 went uncashed and needed to be reissued. It would’ve been much easier to not tax people so much in the first place, but Walz’s administration is going about it in the most complicated way possible in order to justify overtaxing people in the first place.
The Democrats go on a government shopping spree with taxpayer dollars and don’t think about the consequences for their constituents. It’s easy to be a big spender when you’re not the one footing the bill. But it’s only a matter of time before the Democrats bleed the people dry, and there won’t be anyone they can tax.
