With Crime on the Rise, MN Democrats’ Solution? End Cash Bail

Anyone who has been paying attention to the news over the last few years knows crime has been a growing problem in the Twin Cities. In fact, there’s been some movement on catalytic converter thefts.

However, that’s just one piece of the car theft puzzle. Instead of cracking down on crime, Democrats are proposing new legislation that would “eliminate cash bail on certain offenses” according to MinnPost – and the leading champion behind this news? Minnesota Freedom Fund

Since the riots in 2020 brought new attention to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, their interference in the justice system has given offenders opportunities to re-offend on a number of occasions. Now, less than a month after they announced their plans to lobby for the elimination of cash bail, Democrats have a bill on the table.

Try as they might, Democrats can’t ignore the clear and present danger eliminating cash bail would have on communities riddled with crime.

A press release in 2022 from the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office in California stated that “
70% of those released on $0 bail from their county committed new crimes.” Republican and Democrat lawmakers regretted the impact of eliminating cash bail in New York just days after it was enacted. Let’s not forget the myriad of stories of criminals who were arrested not long after they had been bailed out by the Minnesota Freedom Fund.

Make no mistake. When it comes to prioritizing special interests or keeping your neighborhood safe, Democrats will choose organizations and cashless bail policies over your families every time.
