Say Goodbye to Gas-Powered… Well, Everything!

Do you love cooking on a gas stove? Maybe you love riding around on your gas-powered John Deere riding lawn mower. Or you could love having natural gas heat your home in these brutally cold, Minnesota winters or using your snow blower to clear the driveway following a big snowstorm.

But what would you do if they were all electric?

We, at Minnesota Action Network, have already talked about the impact a gas-powered ban on lawn equipment could have on the state.

REMINDER: “As you’re probably aware, Democrats have proposed legislation that would ban gas-powered lawn equipment like lawnmowers and leaf blowers. While not specifically mentioned, the ban on lawn equipment most likely extends to gas-powered snow blowers as well.”

“Yet, last week’s storm is exactly why Democrats should reconsider their fight to ban snowblowers and gas-powered lawn equipment. While Democrats claim they fight for the poor and underprivileged, their attempts to ban widely available, affordable gas-powered equipment in favor of high-cost electric alternatives would hurt the very people they claim to have in mind.”

It’s not just the expense that Minnesotans should have to worry about. It’s performance-based as well. Restaurants rely on gas-powered stoves to cook high-quality food for their customers. We saw the backlash when New York City tried to force pizzerias to cut back on they’re “carbon emissions.”

We’ve all seen the stories of motorists stranded in cold weather because the batteries in Tesla cars drain quicker the colder it gets – and it’s the same with iPhones too!

Can we really allow Democrat lawmakers to make choices that, when it’s -50 degrees outside in January, would leave our homes and families without heat? Or force families with lawns to garden manually because they were priced out of lawn equipment or the battery died because it was too hot or too cold?

We don’t think so either.
