More Hypocrisy from the Left - Star Tribune’s Steve Grove keeps in Contact with Gov. Walz's Chief of Staff

Star Tribune Publisher Steve Grove has remained in contact with Governor Tim Walz's administration, even after leaving his role as economic development commissioner, which raises serious concerns. His texts with Walz's Chief of Staff suggest a cozy relationship that blurs the lines between media and politics.

It is a major part of a journalist’s job to steer clear of political entanglements to maintain objectivity. Grove's continued involvement, however, undermines this KEY moral structure. His role as publisher should prioritize independence, yet his eagerness to offer assistance and praise to the administration reeks of bias.

Media ethics expert Jane Kirtley rightly criticizes Grove's actions, highlighting the risks they pose to the integrity of journalism. By straddling both worlds, Grove compromises the essential separation between the press and politics.

The lack of emotion in responses from Grove and Walz's office further fuels suspicions. While succession planning is common, Grove's lingering involvement, including input on editorial matters, raises red flags. Over the past four years, Minnesotans have lost trust in media outlets, and this is a prime example of why.

The opaque nature of redacted texts only adds to the skepticism surrounding Grove's interactions. Without full transparency, doubts linger about the extent of his influence. The integrity of his work has now been compromised and Minnesotans have been burned once again.

Occurrences such as these not only reflect concerns about Grove's actions but also point to broader issues within liberal circles regarding transparency and political expediency. If liberals truly prioritize accountability, they must hold themselves to higher standards and ensure that professed values align with actions to avoid perpetuating a culture of hypocrisy.

Minnesotans deserve a legislature and news source they can trust. There is absolutely no need for more brainwashing and illusions. It is pertinent that Minnesotans use their voices and vote for people they can trust in their best interests.
