Minnesotans Fleeing Rapidly - It’s Not Just Retirees
Minnesota is increasingly becoming a state that people move away from, not move to. People leaving the state is not a new phenomenon; it has actually been happening for years, but in 2019 there was a new factor that served as a prelude to the exodus: Tim Walz became governor.
The numbers are shocking. In 2020-2021, Minnesota lost over 16,000 residents overall, the largest outflow record since at least 1991. New data tells us they went to primarily Republican-led states. Here are the top 10 states:
Florida
Wisconsin
Texas
Arizona
North Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Georgia
South Carolina
Oklahoma
Elected officials, journalists, and others attempt to justify the data by claiming that the exodus is just due to people retiring. The data tells us something different! In 2020-2021, Minnesota lost people in all age categories. In fact, people under 45 made up 41% of fleeing residents.
Gov. Tim Walz and Democrats must come to their senses. Their policies are devastating our state. A decline in population has serious implications across many aspects such as business, education, the economy and jobs, and more! We must change course while we still can!
