Minnesota Democrats Impose Gas Tax Hike: Burdening Motorists and Straining Wallets
In a twist that everyone saw coming, the DFL party has decided to raise taxes, this time on gas. Gas has never been cheap, and with the way the Minnesota Democrats are finding ways to take more of your hard-earned money, gas will cost an arm and a leg just to get your car started.
In Minnesota, gas averages $3.453 per gallon as of June 29th.
In May, when Governor Tim Walz was trying to get his budget plans through, the gas tax was proposed along with the delivery tax, sales tax, rebate tax, and more and more tax hikes. Don’t forget that the government already had a $19 billion surplus of your money!
The gas tax indexing would amount to an effective increase of 5 cents per gallon by fiscal year 2027. When initially proposed, the $0.08 markup was to be eliminated, but the Democrats never got around to that, and the markup is still in place. More unnecessary expenses for Minnesota drivers!
The DFL does not have the backs of the people of Minnesota. They’re spending money like there’s no tomorrow and taking that cash from your pockets. We have to ask: are they actually doing anything that betters the state?
The gas tax increase was only able to get through because of Democrats’ party loyalty because no Republican was dumb enough to vote for it.
The 4th of July weekend is upon us and many have travel plans, let’s hope they don’t have to break the bank to get there.
