Forgetting the Purpose of Education: Minnesota Teachers are Failing Students

Minnesota got its report card, and we’re failing. Less than half of Minnesota's students were at grade level for the core curriculum of math, reading, and science. For years, teachers' union lobbyists have been peddling the notion that any shortcomings in public education stem from a lack of funding. And like clockwork, the Democrats respond with more money, higher pay, and millions of dollars poured into the system. What do they have to show for decades of increased spending? Nothing.

But let's cut through the nonsense: this money isn't invested in our children's future. It's being squandered on what are essentially glorified vacations cleverly disguised as "MEA weekends." Teachers get to enjoy a four-day getaway, billed as business trips, to attend workshops that supposedly help them learn new teaching methods, develop new skills, and collaborate with their peers. In theory, it's a fantastic idea, right? Teachers coming together to work on solutions for the many challenges they face daily.

However, the ugly truth is that these weekends have become a blatant ruse, using our hard-earned tax dollars to indoctrinate educators with divisive ideologies like Critical Race Theory (CRT). How can this possibly help our children succeed in life? Doctors learn how to heal from science and math, not from learning CRT! Instead of addressing the glaring issues within our education system, these MEA weekends have become breeding grounds for ideas that serve to divide, not unite.

This is an outrageous misallocation of resources, and it reeks of corruption. Teachers' unions, in their zealous pursuit of their own agendas, are undermining the very essence of education – the empowerment of our children to succeed in life. It's a betrayal of trust. These MEA weekends feel like nothing short of a scam, a masquerade that's stealing the future of our children while padding the pockets of union leaders. It's high time we rise against this travesty and demand accountability for how our tax dollars are spent. Our children's education should be a source of hope, not a breeding ground for divisive ideologies.
